Meeting was called to order by President Bill Berry at 3:36 pm
Present were Bill Berry – President, Russ Veenema- Vice President, Steve Collatz- Treasurer, Richard Clendening - Competition Chairman, Ron Grant – Handicap Chairman, Harry Phillips – Rules Chairman, Don Flores – Wa. Golf Representative
Absent but available was Jim Jaqubino, Secretary/Historian
There were no guests
There was a discussion about whether inadvertent contact with the ball while on the fringe of the green or any other area of the course other than when teed up or when preparing to putt would be considered a penalty. It is a one stroke penalty added to the score for the hole.
Treasurer Steve Collatz reported that we ended the year with 190 members. Also, to start the year 2025 that we have $2546.00 in the bank.
Steve also reiterated that renewals for 2025 will be done online and that any member without internet access will be provided help from Garrett Smithson in the Pro Shop.
Vice President Russ Veenema stated that he will be taking the responsibility to provide members who have made a hole in one will be receiving a towel reflecting the very special accomplishment. Must be a member of the Men’s Club. He also talked about having an odd number of board members to facilitate voting on items when presented.
Handicap Chairman Ron Grant talked about members having the ability to change a posted score only on the day that it was originally posted and that
scores that are posted on Golf Genius would not be available for change by the member. He also talked about members that generally accomplish their best rounds during competitions. No members were specifically mentioned but that there would be more scrutiny going forward.
Competition Chairman Richard Clendening said that the 2025 schedule is set. He also wanted to thank the membership for their generosity towards the Sequim Food Bank. There was $2031.00 donated to this very worthy cause.
There was a discussion about Home and Home and 4 course clash competitions. As of now there are 4 course clash competitions scheduled for April 9th, at White Horse, May 14th at Port Ludlow, June 3rd at Sunland and June 24th at Cedars at Dungeness.
Bill Berry was very enthusiastic about the possibility of playing Wing Point and also Victoria Golf Club in Canada. More information will be available soon.
